Miss You, Dad

Seven years ago today I lost my Dad.  Every day I wonder what life would be like if he were still here.  Would he love Phoenix? He never got to visit.  Would he take Gage fishing? He never got to meet his Grandson.  We all miss you, Dad.

Last time I was at my Mom's I scanned some photos of my Dad because I hardly had any.  I've been looking at them for the past few weeks and they've brought him closer to my heart.  Time has a funny way of making things fade, so it has been nice to sort of be reunited with good memories and that sweet mustached face.

They look so young and happy! Love this photo!

Then This Happened:

After the war, Mom and Dad started their family...with ME!

And I've been Daddy's Girl ever since!

Thank you for being my Dad.

Family, Friends, and Music

Three important aspects of my life: family, friends, and music.  Recently I was fortunate enough to go back to Indiana for all three.

For the past 2 years I have foregone the Indy 500, sadly, to combine seeing my family with seeing my favorite band.  And this year just happened to be more exceptional than the last...which I didn't think was possible.

Not only was my nephew, Gage, another year older and smarter and cuter, but also after 40-something Dave Matthews Band shows, I experienced one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Combine those things with the fact that I got to see my DEAR girlfriends, Lisa, Angela, and Curly, and spend time with all my was just a wonderful, much needed trip.

DMB did two sets; the first one was acoustic and the second one they rocked it out as usual!

Very happy girl!
And this week we went to check out Phillip Phillips who also rocked it!!

Photo of the big screen...but I loved that Dave-face!

I hope everyone got to spend some time with family over this holiday weekend.  Happy Independence!

"The reason I play music is to touch people - for selfish reasons, as well.  It feels good to make someone else feel something, whether it's a kiss, a painting, good idea, or it's a song."
